President Barack Obama formally backed a proposal authored by U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and sponsored by Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin, to allow borrowers to refinance their student loans, just like you can with other loans like a mortgage or car loan.
But there's just one problem: Sen. Ron Johnson STILL isn't listening.
Now, we have just 48 hours to show Sen. Johnson that we DEMAND action on the $1 trillion student loan debt crisis.
We simply cannot allow out-of-touch and ill-informed politicians like Sen. Johnson to continue pointing the blame at a student's desire to get an education, while ignoring abuses by bad actors like big Wall Street banks.
Student loan borrowers have done the right thing, they’ve worked hard to get an education and they took on the personal responsibility of paying for it. They’re not asking for a bailout, just a system that treats them fairly.
